A don't miss event!!!
As one of the most astounding jazz pianists of the day, anything Josh produces is amazing...and this will be no exception. Nelson will be joined by veteran bassist Eric Sittner and Dutch drummer Kevin van den Elzen, who is a specialist in west coast jazz history.
Join us as the trio takes us on a review of West Coast Jazz. Past...present...future. West Coast jazz is a style performed by jazz musicians in California (and primarily in Los Angeles) in the '50s and early '60s. As opposed to the hard-bop sound dominant on the East Coast during that time, the West Coast sound was a bit mellower and more lyrical, with blended harmonies and — broadly speaking — more interest in composition and arrangement than improvisation.
Nelson has performed with some of the most respected names in jazz, including Kurt Elling, John Pizzarelli, Benny Golson, Sheila Jordan, John Clayton, George Mraz, Jeff Hamilton, Dave Koz, Joe Chambers, Peter Erskine, Samara Joy and Kenny Washington.
Eric Sittner originally hails from Chicago, and has lived in Los Angeles for the last 16 years. He has traveled around the world and played with numerous artists locally and abroad. He currently tours with vocalist Patti Austin, and plays with composer/jazz pianist Vardan Ovsepian and his jazz chamber ensemble, and many other amazing musicians around the LA area.
Kevin van den Elzen is an in demand jazz-drummer and bandleader originally from the Netherlands who works and resides in Los Angeles. Kevin has worked with musicians such as John Clayton, Bob Mintzer, Dianne Reeves, Gerald Clayton, Anthony Wilson, Nick Mancini, Paquito d’Rivera and many others.
